Message from Carmen:
"It has been said that a single greeting card has the power to touch more people than any other form of communication. I am one of those people who has boxes and boxes of greeting cards in my closet. I can tell you who sent each card and why. I can also tell you how each card made me feel. Greeting cards are a link to our past in so many ways. They remind us how much someone loves us, times of grief and pain, lost loves, words of encouragement and so many more feelings.
After leaving the world of auditing, my former career, I found myself at home, with my three boys, full of ideas. I have always loved writing. I have filled hundreds of journals over the years. I needed an outlet for my thoughts. My sister-in-law, Lane Newsom Drennan, had recently died of cancer. Her cancer research fund was growing steadily. My mother-in-law, also named Lane, asked me to create a Christmas card as a fundraiser for the Lane Newsom Drennan Cancer Research Fund. My first card was hand-stamped with trees and embossed with a gold star. I couldn’t make them fast enough. And thus my dream was born. I dusted off all those journals and put them to good use. The first cards I created were taken from cards I actually gave members of my immediate family. My family now jokes that I used them to make a “quick buck”.
On the back of most of my cards you will find a dedication. I always have a person or group of people in mind as I create a new verse. I feel it is important to recognize those people that have influenced me. It is because of them that I am able to live this dream.
You can be sure that each card is original and is the best quality because I wouldn’t have it any other way. You can also be sure that your purchase will go to help find a cure for the cancer that took my sister-in-law’s life much too early.
